Ah 2009... turning five, finally shedding that beta label, and adding more than 40 new features. As we wind down after a busy year, here's a look back at a handful of our favorite additions to Gmail. We hope you enjoy trying them out as much as we enjoyed building them.
On behalf of the entire Gmail team, happy holidays! See you next year.

Not that any of you noticed, but I’ve been AFK for the past few days, so I’ve totally missed out on all the Grand Theft Auto: The Ballad of Gay Tony videos and screenshots that have hit my inbox. I’m fixing that right now.
As the very first trailer alluded to, you’ll be able to use parachutes in multi-player. (Thank God it’s not weather balloons!) Other multi-player highlights include:
• The use of tanks and helicopters
• A bunch of new weapons with which to kill-streak your friends until they log off in utter frustration

Given that I played GTA IV’s multi-player for all of 10 minutes (not because it was bad, but I’m just more of a single-player gamer; I even prefer to solo in WoW!) I really can’t speak to these additions. Maybe if I were more social?

Moving on, this here’s another video that highlights the game’s whole nightclub/nightlife/celebrity atmosphere. That, for the record, is why I wasn’t so keen on the first GTA IV expansion. Motorcycles and whatnot just aren’t my scene, whereas I have no problem with listening to “Pjanoo” and other, similar songs over and over again.
That’s about it for Ballad news. In other Rockstar news, however, they just put a bunch of their older games in the PSN Store for all of you PSP Go owners. Games to be newly found there include Midnight Club 3: Dub Edition and Manhunt 2.
I think that ties up all the loose ends. The lesson is, never leave the house again.

Mozilla's popular web browser, Firefox, is quite a big name in the realm of the Internet. It's multi-platform, easy to use, and packs a extremely vast amount of add-ons to improve the user experience. In addition to this, it's about to get a new version. The newest version of the browser, currently in development, is 3.6; it's not a huge upgrade, as Mozilla plans to save the bigger changes for version 4.0, but it's still packing some nice improvements. According to The Register, the new version will come with tweaks which improve the TraceMonkey javascript engine, an 'optimized session restore', plus additions to the CSS technology in the browser and improved page rendering speed. Rumor has it that Apple are planning a refresh of their iPod Nano and iPod Touch models - one of the main additions to the product lines is predicted to be a camera for taking pictures on the go. Nearly two weeks after submitting the app to Apple, Facebook's totally revamped 3.0 application is finally live on the App Store, according to the app's developer Joe Hewitt. You can download it now here. The store currently shows that the app is version 2.5, but if you click the Download button anyway you'll get the new version.
The new application brings a slew of new features, making it what may be the most useful app on the App Store (be sure to read this post) for our full review. Among the additions are Events, which have frustratingly been omitted from previous versions. Now you'll be able to look up where your Events are, and you can also respond to them and see which of your friends are attending (for anyone who has ever had to boot up the web version of the site just to look up an Event address, this is a big deal. You can also post video directly to the site if you have an iPhone 3GS — a feature that will likely see the number of videos on Facebook increase dramatically.
