After over a million downloads of WordPress 2.9 and lots of feedback from all of you, we’re releasing WordPress 2.9.1. This release addresses a handful of minor issues as well as a rather annoying problem where scheduled posts and pingbacks are not processed correctly due to incompatibilities with some hosts. If any of these issues affect you, give 2.9.1 a try. Download 2.9.1 or upgrade automatically from the Tools->Upgrade menu in your blog’s admin area.
Fresh from the Twitter feed of Grant Imahara we see Kari from Mythbusters going nuts with a sniper rifle taller than her. I hope it’s for an experiment and not a Discovery-channel sponsored “Deadliest Game” reality show where the prey will be hosts of various Food Network programs.
Microsoft has begun confirming Windows 7 launch parties for hosts across the world. Neowin reported earlier this month that Microsoft is planning to offer copies of Windows 7 and party materials to those willing to hold launch parties in various countries across the world. Lucky hosts will receive a special "Signature Edition" of Windows 7 Ultimate and a Windows 7 Party Pack which includes balloons, a must for every party. If that isn't enough then there's a lame party video that teaches you some "party tips". It reminds us of the Microsoft Songsmith marketing video. So did you get confirmed and if so where are you holding your party?
Okay, seriously, this is the worst interview ever. The hosts are clueless, mock the genre, and don’t do the show justice. Oh, and WTF is up with the music at 0:55? Wow. Feel free to watch the whole 9:13 interview, but you may want to just skip forward to 6:38 for a new clip of Stargate Universe. Be warned though, you will cringe at the comments right after that clip.
Swedish software company Global Gaming Factory X AB said on Tuesday it had agreed to buy file-sharing website The Pirate Bay for 60 million Swedish crowns ($7.7 million). The Pirate Bay is one of the 100 most visited websites in the world and hosts torrent files for a magnitude of illegal content. The 4 owners named as Frederik Neij, Gottfrid Svartholm Warg, Carl Lundstrom and Peter Sunde were sentenced to 1 year in prison earlier this year for "aiding in copyright infringement" coupled with a fine of 30 million Swedish kronor (£2.4 million/$3.6 million).
