If you’re keen on the whole low voltage ultraportable idea (bigger screens, slightly faster processors than standard netbooks) but you can’t quite stomach the $600+ price tag that accompanies most of those systems, you may be happy to hear that JR.com is blowing the MSI X320 right the hell out.
Now to be fair, this is basically a netbook in an ultraportable’s body. You get a big 13.4-inch screen and decently-sized keyboard along with a 2.8-pound weight and a thickness of just 0.79 inches, although the innards include an older Atom Z530 CPU, dumpy GMA 500 graphics, and Windows Vista Home Premium.
Poor Wii owners (I’m one of them). There will be no Modern Warfare 2 for us. In a recent interview, Infinity Ward’s Robert Bowling explained that the Wii’s relatively underpowered innards in comparison to the PC, PS3, and Xbox 360 make it impossible to replicate “the cinematic experience” across all platforms.
“If we felt like we could deliver the cinematic experience we were going for on other platforms, then we would gladly move to that platform. Right now, we don’t think the Wii can deliver the exact experience that we’re doing. We like to be very equal across all platforms, and if it’s not equal then we won’t do it,” said Bowling.
Oh I see how it is. Just because there’s no HD and a whole lot more arm-flailing, it’s not the same? Sigh. It’s actually not the same. He’s right.
At least we’ll have Call of Duty: Modern Warfare: Reflex Editionon the Wii the same day as Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 comes out on all the other systems. It’s probably just as good as the new game, right? Except older and less cinematic? And not as good?
Every time Apple releases a bunch of new products, the folks at iFixit have a field day tearing them down one-by-one and baring their innards for all to...
The ASUS Eee Keyboard has been sliced open and dissected by Blogeee.net (translated from French). The innards basically consist of laptop parts laid side by side with all the ports facing outwards.
The 4cm fan is apparently pretty quiet, the 1GB of RAM has been soldered onto the motherboard, and there’s a 1,880mAh battery that’ll apparently let the thing run for over an hour and a half before needing to be plugged back in.
When assembled, the backlit keys look pretty cool and the iPhone-sized touchscreen on the far right ought to come standard on every keyboard ever made (my opinion). Please observe the video demo below. It’s in French, but it’s pretty easy to follow what’s going on.
Old NES controller, meet iPhone. An enterprising individual over on the iPhonefr.com forums (careful, everything is in French!) has turned one of the most iconic controllers of all time into something that holds one of the most iconic electronic gadgets of the present day.
It actually doesn’t look like it’d be all that complicated to produce. Clear out the innards of the controller, make a little slit for the iPod connector to fit into, and glue everything in place. Voila, as the French say.
