Gamers who’ve always wanted to own a PSP in pink, here’s your chance: Sony Computer Entertainment Japan today announced [JP] exactly that, a limited edition of their handheld system in so-called blossom pink. Needless to say that technically, this pink PSP 3000 isn’t different from a standard model.
The new PSP will hit Japanese stores on March 4 as part of Sony’s spring product line-up (price: $180).
Sony also made an announcement regarding the PS3 today: Michael Jackson is huge in Japan, and he used to have strong ties with the company. The Michael Jackson documentary This Is It, for example, has been distributed worldwide by Sony Pictures Entertainment. And Japan’s Jacko fans can soon lay their hands on a special PS3 bundle [JP] that includes a Blu-ray of said documentary.
Priced at $350, the “Michael Jackson – This Is It Special Pack” will be available in Japan starting January 27.
As the tail end of a series of holiday giveaways, SteelSeries and CrunchGear are going to be giving away a pretty fat care package of sweet SteelSeries gear. One lucky winner will be taking home a limited edition gold Xai laser mouse, a Siberia v2 headset, and a 4HD gaming surface (i.e. mousepad). Having reviewed both the Xai and the Siberia, I can tell you it’s worth your time to enter. Details follow!
So it’s going to be CES any time now (in fact, I need to finish this post and get myself over to the Venetian for some pre-events) and while we know some stuff is happening — Panasonic’s new point and shoots, for instance — there’s a lot still under wraps. Your job, commenters, is to comment below predicting something you think we’ll see at CES. The winner will be the one who we feel goes out on a limb the most, yet whose prediction comes true. Comments will be closed after tomorrow morning! If all of you say “jetpacks,” we’ll just choose randomly.
As soon as CES is over, we’ll pick a winner from the entrants and SteelSeries will deliver the goods. Happy New Year and all that!
Here’s one for the really dedicated Final Fantasy fan. The beverage company, Suntory, has teamed up with Square to offer a limited edition drink collection, featuring 16 special art cans of Final Fantasy “Elixir”. The set also contains a commemorative metal cup, presumably to drink your elixir from.
Only 30,000 of these sets will be made, and they were originally available only in Japan. The good news is, you can buy one for yourself in the US now, for the kingly sum of $165.90.
Australian jeweler Colin Burn is making 10 limited-edition vibrators out of platinum and “encrusting” each in 1,500 diamonds. They will cost $1 million each. Your own bread and circuses should be along shortly.
Burn announced his bejeweled wiener at the Asia Adult Expo in Macau. He has already created a $38K dildo with 400 diamonds. He finds it hard to convince jewelry shops to take his wares, probably because they’re dildos.
Forbes also describes a man who paints pictures with his wangus and a fashion show, described thusly:
Elevated on a catwalk, waiflike models with protruding ribs stripped down to their underwear to the tune of trance music. They were followed by Australian Chippendale-style dancers in G-strings, one of whom vigorously wiggled his behind — and more — in the face of a hapless audience member.
Apparently not content in leading as the world most reviled netbook maker, Smartbook AG is offering this hot mess as a holiday promoition. Best of all, it’s really a horrible netbook:
Thus the “Smartbook Zenide” in the variant of “Crystal” in a limited edition of 20 pieces For the price of cheap 2001, – EUR (in words: Euro two thousand and one), then there is also a bottle of champagne and an expensive suitcase. The fact that it is commonplace for a cheap netbook-from China, but this changes nothing.
iPhone-toting city slickers who'd like a taste of a frontier have a friend in Southern Brand. The company makes the $29 Limited Edition Cowhide iPhone Cover...
Chances are if you, or your spouse, is the type that gets excited about gadgets covered in Swarovski crystals, then you probably don’t care that Peter found the Olympus E-P1 to be just an average performer and nothing special. You also probably have the disposable cash to pay a $2,000 premium over the sticker price.
The limited edition comes with two lens, a flash, and a wooden box for only £1999.99. ($3,302 USD) No matter how sexy you find this camera, you shouldn’t buy it. Nope, wait until the upcoming E-P2 gets covered in Swarovski crystals and buy that one. You don’t want to get stuck with an old model, right?
Yes, that’s a USB drive in the shape of an apple. It’s a limited edition doohickey that contains the entire remastered Beatles catalogue, the same one that was released on September 9. The 16GB drive comes out on December 8 here.
The catalogue is encoded in FLAC, so no worries regarding sound quality. (There’s also an 320 Kbps version on there, in case you want to offload the songs onto your portable device.) Only 30,000 are being made, so best to order right quick if it interests you.
There’s also the usual bonus features you’d expect from such a release, including photos, album art, videos, etc. Nothing too out of the ordinary, but when you consider how allergic The Beatles once were to digital distribution only then does it sink in. That sentence makes no sense, no.
The doohickey will cost $280 when it’s released. Maybe you work at Goldman Sachs and can afford such things?
The Beatles are finally available in digital form. However, you need to shell out $279.99 for it. Granted, it comes in an apple-shaped USB stick, both in FLAC and MP3 formats. It seems they are all-together shunning the iTunes music store. Apple Corps and EMI Music have announced the worldwide release a limited edition of only 30,000 Stereo USB devices. What do you get for that? The same thing the band and EMI Music Group are already selling for $219: All of the band's music, in a remastered stereo mix — the same just released in a CD set. For all those die-hard fans paying extra yet, you get the same tunes bundled up in a single USB stick.
Happy post-Halloween! Thanks for sending in your costumes and thanks, most of you, for following the rules. That said, I’m proud to show you the 11 best costumes in this line-up, as judged by all of us at CG. I added one extra because we just couldn’t bear to choose between the various Iron Men we saw.
Here’s how to vote:
1. 1 vote = 1 comment. You can vote once for each and any entrant. You can vote for multiple entrants.
2. Do not use robots. Seriously. There are kids in this contest and although I suspect their parents are just using them to get a free XBox, let’s give them a fighting chance.
3. We’ll pick the entrant with the most votes as of noon Eastern on November 10. The winner gets the XBox.

There are a few rules:

* The contest will run from today until noon Eastern November 1, 2009
* We will then choose ten runners up and then allow you to choose the winner via a method I will discuss on November 1. We will close the contest on November 10.
* The winner will receive their XBox by November 10, the release date of Modern Warfare 2.
Please have fun and be creative. Here’s some inspiration.
Sorry America, it seems like Nintendo doesn’t love you anymore. Particularly given the continual stream of Wii related products that won’t be coming to the US. The latest example: the black Wii Sports Resort bundle.
Nintendo UK just announced that the limited edition black Wii system will be coming out on November 6th, bundled with Wii Sports Resort. The limited edition bundle will include a Wii-mote, nunchuk, and MotionPlus peripheral, as well as Wii Sports and Wii Sports Resort.
Nintendo UK also announced that they are releasing a black Classic Controller Pro. There’s no pricing on any of this new equipment, for the EU yet. Nintendo not only hasn’t announced a release date for the US on the new bundle, they’ve said that they have no plans to release any other colors of Wii until sales drop off on the original system. We are going to get black peripherals however.
The Pentax K-x was announced last month, and it seems to be a very decent entry-level camera. We already reported the device will be available in a few different colors in Japan, while the US only gets black, white, and red models. And today Pentax said in Tokyo [JP], they are ready to roll out a very special version of the K-x, which is a particularly colorful model inspired by the so-called Kore Ja Nai robo toy [JP].
The robot was introduced in Japan in 2001 and is available in different variations (the one you see in the pic above is a cell phone strap). Spec-wise, the K-x isn’t any different from the conventional models so the design is the main selling point.
Pentax plans to sell the robo K-x exclusively in its own online store [JP] (price: $880), and the model is restricted to just 100 units. Pre-orders begin in early November. People living outside Japan might want to contact the Japan Trend Shop or Geek Stuff 4 U and ask if they can help with the purchase.
Remember those cool-looking ceramic speakers I posted a little while back? Actual pre-orders are now up, and as expected, they’re expensive as hell. $495 will get you a great-looking set of limited edition, high-quality speakers (the first run will be around 200 sets) — but don’t throw away your hi-fi just yet.
The frequency response only goes down to 70Hz and while the speakers have 15 watts per channel, they won’t be shaking your paintings off the walls. However, the ceramic, wood, and cork makeup, combined with an amp based on the famous TA2024 suggest that the sound will be very good indeed.
I love the cabling. They’ll be available in November.
Hello, red. I’m thinking that this unidentified Pentax is probably a limited edition K2000d or the unannounced K-x. You may recall that the company also has the limited edition white and olive drab models too. The red might not be for everyone, but damn, it’s kind of hot. We’ll probably get more info shortly so keep your trousers on. Oh, and nice robot. [Pentax forum via photorumors]
The big Korean MMO, Aion, is due for release here in North America on September 22. It’s true. What else is true is that SteelSeires has a fancy, new keyboard lined up for the game’s release. Behold!
The full name of the keyboard is the SteelSeries Zboard Limited Edition Aion Keyset. I’m going to assume that a working knowledge of the game would be helpful here, but here’s my best shot. As you’d expect, the keyboard has a whole host of dedicated keys that are related to the in-game world. I spy keys like Inventory, Fold Wings, and Charge.
Eh, you know what, let’s face facts: it’s a keyboard with a frill design and a couple of dedicated keys. If that type of thing interests you, great. If not, then no amount of words would change your opinion.
At the very least the keyboard is inexpensive, coming in at only $19.99. There’s even a matching mouse pad, and that’s only $14.99.
Oh boy, more limited edition PAX gear! These don’t differ in any serious way from the normal Moray+ headphones (which I’ve been neglecting and will review shortly), which is to say they’re a solid pair of in-ears with a built-in mic for on-the-go gaming. Plus, the PAX branding makes them awesomer. We gave away a PAX-edition Death Adder last year, and I get the feeling we’ll be doing the same with a pair of Moray+s this year.
Who hasn’t been at a sporting event and wished for one of those T-shirt cannons? Nike is “selling” the Nike T-shirt Gun seen in the above video for just $1500. I put “selling” in quotes because it doesn’t seem legit. It’s one of those “internet jokes” that you may have read about in USA Today.
According to the product description:
Better than you’ll find in any stadium or arena, the Nike T-shirt Gun is the best in fan gear for your favorite sporting event.
The Nike T-shirt gun delivers only Premium Nike T-shirts.
Eliminates poor fitting, uncomfortable, lame-designed T-shirts on all your friends.
Each limited edition T-shirt gun is numbered and engraved with the signature of a Nike athlete.
Quality Craftsmanship guarantees your T-shirt gun will last game after game.
A T-shirt gun with unlimited premium Nike T-shirts that can shoot those shirts onto other people? If only it wasn’t out of stock! I suspect it’ll be out of stock indefinitely unless Nike has somehow managed to make an affordable T-shirt cannon that doesn’t rely on a giant backpack full of compressed air. That, and the magic T-shirt trick it can do.
Oh, look, another limited edition Leica that none of you will ever be able to afford. (I’ll never afford one either, so don’t despair.) It’s the result of some sort of partnership between Leica and Hermès. (Fun fact: Hermès makes a cologne I use. I hope that gets picked up by Techmeme.)
It’s just a standard-issue M8, but re-colored.
And, just for fun, here’s a photo that was taken with an M8:
If you got 100 new messages, how long would it take you to get through them all? An hour? Five minutes? How would you find the important ones, reply to the ones that require an immediate reply, and mark the ones that you needed to take care of later? Would you use stars, filters, keyboard shortcuts, labels? What about Gmail Labs like tasks or canned responses?
Everybody has their own system for managing email, but some are definitely more efficient than others. Even if you only get a few messages a day, there are probably some simple things you can do to make it easier to get through your inbox and maybe even have a little fun along the way. We know time is valuable, so we asked lots of Googlers for their tips and tricks on how they make the most of Gmail, and we combined the best of these into a guide at www.gmail.com/tips, cheekily entitled "Become a Gmail Ninja." The tips are categorized into ninja belts (white, green, black and master ) based on how much mail you get each day.
For a handy reference that you can pin to your wall or keep on your desk, we even made a printable version of the guide where all the tips fit on one page front and back. And for the first 1024 of you who want them, we'll send a limited-edition, laminated guide for free. Just fill out this form with your address. Sorry, we can only ship to addresses in the US. If you're not one of the lucky 1024, you can still buy a laminated guide at www.barcharts.com/gmail.
If you're already a Gmail ninja and have your own tips you'd like to share, let us know and we'll add the best ones to the online guide.
*Our lawyers asked us to make sure it was clear that your contact information won't be maintained longer than necessary to send you the laminated guide and that this offer is "void where prohibited and only while supplies last."
