Xbox 360 Slim on the way?


Some rumors are swirling regarding a possible “slim” version of the Xbox 360. And why not? The console being sold is largely the same as one they were selling… wow, is it more than four years ago now? Of course, the ones they sell now run a little cooler, and don’t have an enormous failure rate, so there’s that. And with the pressure on from the PS3 Slim and… well, a black version of the Wii, Microsoft probably wants to be one of the cool kids with the console revisions.

The pictures are purportedly of the new motherboard, and show a combined processor and graphics unit, a generally smaller size, and a SATA connector instead of a proprietary one, suggesting the new hard drive will be internal.

Tonight CES 2010 was officially kicked off when Steve Ballmer took the stage for Microsoft's CES 2010 keynote. Even with a 20 minute delay due to a power outage, Steve Ballmer took the stage enthusiastically and had quite a bit to announce. Confirmed: Ballmer will be showing a slate at the CES keynote – but not the Courier

LG confirms Windows Mobile 7 devices due this year

During a press conference held at the Consumer Electronics Show today, LG confirmed they will be bringing Windows Mobile 7 powered devices to market this year. Interestingly the phrase "late this year" was not used but simply "this year". LG also confirmed it has two smartphones it will be launching tomorrow at CES. In early December 2009 Microsoft rep Phil Moore confirmed that we won't see Windows Mobile 7 phones on the market until late 2010. In September this year, Microsoft confirmed that the current team of 1,000 developers, working on Windows Mobile 7, are planning to feature social networks as a key element of Windows Mobile 7.
