HTC orders Froyo for Evo 4G | TG Daily.

HTC has assured its eager fanbois that the long-awaited Evo 4G will be upgraded to Froyo Android 2.2 during the second half of 2010.

"If your phone was launched this year, we will most likely offer an upgrade for it to the Froyo version. This includes popular models like the Desire and Droid Incredible as well as hotly anticipated phones like the Evo 4G, MyTouch slide and upcoming models," HTC told Android Central in an official statement.

HTC orders Froyo for Evo 4G"We will announce a full list of phones and dates once we are closer to launching the upgrades. We are working closely with Google and our other partners to ensure we have the earliest access to everything we need to provide a complete and solid Sense experience on Froyo."

However, Ed Hardy of BrightHand cautioned that HTC "made no mention" of models released in 2009.

"This raises a strong possibility that models like the HTC Hero, HTC Droid Eris, and T-Mobile myTouch 3G will not get upgraded," wrote Hardy.

The HTC Evo - which is powered by a 1GHz Snapdragon processor - features a 4.3-inch screen, dual cameras (8 megapixel primary, 1.3 front facing), mobile hotspot capabilities (up to 8 WiFi devices), HDMI output at 720p and a 1,500 mAh battery.

It should be noted that the HTC Evo 4G has received mostly positive reviews, with Ginny Mies of PC World terming the device a "huge step forward" for both Android and Sprint.

"Evo 4G is a winner with its solid hardware, multimedia capabilities, and speediness. Even if you don't have 4G connectivity in your city, you'll be pleased with this smartphone," said Mies.

The HTC Evo 4 is scheduled to be released on June 4, 2010.
